Community Grief Vigil

REGISTER HERE

Registration is $15. If this is a barrier to your participation, please send a note to mara@marastone.co and I will register you. All registrants will receive additional information in advance of the vigil including preparatory notes and more detailed driving directions for reaching the barn.

This vigil is a time for centering our sorrows — the ones in our collective field, the sorrows of the world. Grief tending in this way is an act of healing for ourselves, our Earth and our community. All are welcome. Circles are confidential and how you participate is always your choice.

There is much in our midst that is asking for our loving attention; let's join together in light and warmth as we approach the dark days of Winter. Please reach out with any questions to mara@marastone.co.

Grief Circle - June 25, 2023

NEW FOR SPRING 2023: Emily is bringing herbs/tea to share at each session. Please SIGN UP HERE so we can plan accordingly.

Many of us sense that what we experience as private sadness is shared common grief. We are here to acknowledge that truth–that none of us is separate; that the suffering of one is the suffering of many and that healing is also a shared experience.

As beings, we instinctually move toward each other in times of joy and sorrow; our impulse is often to share our stories and to connect through receiving others’, but we don’t always have that opportunity. This circle is an intentional way to share our personal stories of grief in a process sometimes called ‘grief tending’.

Ultimately, the act of sharing and receiving builds the personal and cultural resilience we all need to thrive in difficult times. Attendees agree to maintain confidentiality of participants and shared discussion.

Donations cover the herbal tea ceremony and the remainder is donated to Maine Needs . Donations of over $100 went to Maine Needs from our winter sessions. Questions? Email mara[at]marastone.co.

Grief Circle

In times of sorrow, ritual plays an essential role in maintaining community. Many of us are awakening to a sense that what we experience as private sadness is shared common grief. We are here to acknowledge that truth–that none of us is separate; that the suffering of one is the suffering of many and that healing is also a shared experience.

When you are feeling a vague or specific sense of your own grief, naming it enables integration and healing not just for yourself, but others. Ultimately, the act of sharing and receiving builds the personal and cultural resilience we all need to thrive in difficult times.

Grief Circle (First in series of four)

In times of sorrow, ritual plays an essential role in maintaining community. Many of us are awakening to a sense that what we experience as private sadness is shared common grief. We are here to acknowledge that truth–that none of us is separate; that the suffering of one is the suffering of many and that healing is also a shared experience.

As beings, we instinctually move toward each other in times of joy and sorrow; our impulse is often to share our stories and to connect through receiving others’, but we don’t always have that opportunity. This circle is an intentional way to share our personal stories of grief in a process sometimes called ‘grief tending’.

When we think of grief, we often think of losing a loved one, or a relationship. But there are many types of grief related to miscarriage, abortion, ecological instability, gun violence, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, the systemically codified marginalization and disregard of human rights especially of BIPOC, LGBTQIA individuals, women and girls. Sometimes it feels like the list just goes on and on...

When you are feeling a vague or specific sense of your own grief, naming it enables integration and healing not just for yourself, but others. Ultimately, the act of sharing and receiving builds the personal and cultural resilience we all need to thrive in difficult times.

I've asked Emily Wilson, PT to partner with me in hosting these circles. I came to know Emily through her Portland-based physical therapy practice Pelvic WisdomEmily's unique and intuitive approach to accessing and healing pain, trauma and grief that can reside and manifest itself in our bodies is a great complement to this circle.

You can formally RSVP here but it’s not required. Suggested donation is $5-10 to offset the space rental. Direct any questions to mara[at]marastone.co.

Wellness Rituals for Motherhood

In the little New England town of Medfield, MA sits the Moon Lodge at Hawthorn Farm: a 1,700 sq. ft. octagonal building, surrounded by 23 acres of oak and pine forest, a spring-fed lake, and what feels like miles of meandering paths that take you further from civilization, and closer to who you really are.
